About Us


Who We Are

voiceofsandiego.org is a nonprofit, independent and insightful online newspaper focused on issues impacting the San Diego region.

Our Mission Statement

To consistently deliver ground-breaking investigative journalism for the San Diego region. To increase civic participation by giving citizens the knowledge and in-depth analysis necessary to become advocates for good government and social progress.

Our Funding

voiceofsandiego.org is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are the only professionally staffed, nonprofit online news site in the state focused on local news and issues. We will continue to operate with the support of individuals, foundations and businesses which, like you, recognize the importance of local news from an independent perspective.

Board of Directors


Photo Neil Morgan
Neil is the author of 12 books including "Dr. Seuss & Mr. Geisel" (with Judith Morgan), and "Westward Tilt." As a journalist, his decades of prodding regional efforts have helped to make San Diego a center of higher education and scientific research.

Gail is chairman and CEO of The Right Question LLC, a marketing and consulting firm specializing in solving marketing problems through qualitative research.

Bob owns a media management company which is actively engaged in newspaper and magazine consulting. Prior to forming his own company, he owned three community newspapers in suburban San Diego. He is a former publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times and the Boston Herald. In 20 years with United Press International, he rose through the ranks to become executive vice president and general manager.

Buzz is a 40-year San Diego resident, a retired venture capitalist and entrepreneur. He is the president of the Girard Foundation which has provided millions of dollars for K-12 programs in San Diego County over the past 18 years.
