City attorney challenger Jan Goldsmith, who out-fundraised Aguirre almost 6-1 in recent months, says he still expects Aguirre to pump plenty of his own money into the campaign.
Mike Aguirre pledges to go after a list of other subprime lenders in the wake of the foreclosure settlement between 11 states and Countrywide Financial Corp.
With the cost of running a local campaign well into the six figures, the Ethics Commission hopes to wean candidates off of their dependence on labor and business interests, as well as political parties.
